Hedgehope School has a hugely supportive and adventurous community, that have helped us create our very own Forest School at Sherwood Forest and local native bush. Weekly adventures and study are planned with students focusing on understanding biodiversity of flora, fauna, insects and water. Regeneration is 2024 foci using all the knowledge we have gained from working closely with Environment Southland team, Enviro Schools, Hokonui Runanga, QE11, Fish and Game, Thrive Southland, Field Based STEM (Ruud Kleinpaste – The Bugman), Lloyd Esler, Catlins Bat Protection, owners Sinclairs and now Grants and so many more.
Connecting with local community, business and environment is a huge part of our local curriculum. Our students experience so many opportunities to broaden their horizons, think critically, develop relationships and problem solve.
